Remember To Eat Healthy Promo Peeps! 6 years ago

Many of us who work in the promotional industry lead busy lives and simply don’t have the time we wish we had to sit down and enjoy a meal with carefully chosen ingredients we know will be healthy and both enrich and nourish our bodies. Filling us up with the very best to keep us going and ensure our bodies aren’t being overloaded with toxic foods. But when you have to get up in the morning for work a promotion, endure a potentially long commute, or any number of other tasks and errands that can drain the hours in your day, you don’t always have the opportunity to budget your time for eating healthy. Suddenly it’s mid-afternoon, your stomach is growling, you have no idea where to go during your break from your event, and you’re nowhere near home but you need something to fill you up before you crash. It can unfortunately be all too tempting to make your way to a drive-thru for fast food that might have an adverse effect on your overall health and state of mind. But when you seemingly have no other options, what else is there? It can be such a challenge to find food items that aren’t loaded with fat, sodium, and calories.

Fear not promo peeps! We have done the work for you by finding some healthy food options and tips to satisfy your hunger while you are out working your events and on the go. Don’t sacrifice your health for quick, unhealthy fixes when better food options are available, and easy to find and make!

So let’s say you’re a trade show model about to board a plane to your next trade show, you have no time to get a healthy sandwich or salad made at the airport cafe, what do you do? Head over to the closest newsstand (there are usually multiple in an airport) and grab a small bag of dry-roasted or raw almonds. Sometimes you might even find 100-calorie snack packs if you’re lucky (also, you can usually find packs of almonds at convenience stores and gas stations)! One ounce (which is about 24 nuts) is usually enough to curb your hunger but also keep the calories in check. You can also grab some Triscuits or Wheat Thins along with healthy sticks of mozzarella cheese (mozzarella is a lower-fat cheese and it will give you a great protein to help fill you up) and then you’re ready to fly!

Lets say your busy brand ambassadors and you just have to stop for fast food (and sometimes there just really aren’t any other viable options, which is okay!), there are some healthy choices you can make, thanks to fast food chains keeping up with the times and trying to offer better options for people who don’t want to ruin their diets. Try a Grilled Honey Mustard Snack Wrap from McDonald’s, a Fresco Chicken Soft Taco plus Pintos 'n' Cheese from Taco Bell, 6" Subway Club on 9-Grain Wheat Bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, and Sweet Onion Sauce plus apple slices from Subway, or a Chicken & Hummus Bistro Box from Starbucks!

If you know you have a busy day of promotions ahead, you can also make your own pre-packaged treats that will be easy to eat on the go: putting together your own nut and/or trail mix (this is a great alternative to store-bought trail mix, which can often contain too much added sugar and artificial ingredients), making overnight refrigerator oatmeal that you can simply grab in the morning before you leave, whipping up some fruit and veggie smoothies, hard-boiling eggs that can be taken on the go in ziploc bags, or putting together little baggies of cut up veggies with hummus or healthy cheese sticks. While it can seem hard to stay healthy when you have such busy days, a little planning and ingenuity can ensure that you don’t sabotage your health when you are strapped for time.

Hope this helpd our Promo Peeps stay healthy while working their busy promo schedules!!
